Wildfire Stoneware Pottery

Creating things, especially pottery, along with drawing, painting, and fabric art have always made me happy and have been an important part of my life.
Wildfire Stoneware Pottery is my studio for making these clay creations. For as long as I can remember I have had a love of tools and how I could use them in the design of functional items on wood, fabric, and especially clay. I enjoy creating my pieces, using color and form from items I find in the woods, lakes, and the hardware store.
My creations are made from stoneware clay that is either wheel thrown, hand built, or a combination of the two. Initially, I fire to 1600 degrees. Pieces are removed from the kiln then glazed and fired again to 2400 degrees using food safe glazes.
Early in my career I utilized creativity by teaching special needs children. I transitioned to making pottery because of the tactile nature of the clay and the ability to mold it in countless ways. I like the utility of clay and how it can bring function and beauty to life.
